Cursillo is Spanish for 'short course.' The rooster is a colourful symbol that originates in the Spanish history of the Cursillo movement.

A Cursillo weekend could be described as a short course in Christian living. Speakers explore the underpinnings of our Christian faith, and provide practical approaches (through piety, study and action) and ongoing support for participants to practise the Christian faith in their everyday life. Participants are invariably invigorated and strengthened in their community, as well as their personal faith journey.

The Anglican Diocese of Edmonton has an active Cursillo group that hosts these weekends at a retreat centre, normally on an annual basis. They also host monthly Cursillo gatherings called 'Ultreyas' to reconnect and encourage the community.
