ALPHAWhat's Your Question? Alpha is all about creating a safe place for people to explore life’s big questions. Over the next few weeks, Alpha Coordinator, Amy Croy will be answering your questions about Alpha. This week’s questions are about training. What is the best way to train my team? There are 3 free training videos available when you register your Alpha at alphacanada.org. They are Alpha Essentials, Small Group Training and Prayer Ministry Training. Book a 2 hour session to run the first 2 videos before you begin Alpha and an hour to do Prayer Ministry Training before the weekend session. I am new to Alpha, how do I get started? There are some very helpful short videos available when you register with Alpha Builder. If you have never run Alpha, is good idea to attend a training event at a church that is running it successfully. St. John the Evangelist in Edmonton will be offering a training session in January and Beulah Alliance offers an open training session each fall. You can contact me (Amy) at alpha@edmontonanglican.ca for help before October 15 or Richard King after October 15. Which team members should go through the training? All of them! The goal of Alpha is to create an open and welcoming environment for people to explore faith so it is important for all your team members to have a good understanding of how to create a non-threatening setting. Training sessions 1 and 2 are helpful for all parishioners who will be involved. Training session 3 is for hosts and helpers who will be involved in praying for guests.
