Saturday, August 26 saw 15 new and continuing lay readers gathered at All Saints' Cathedral in Edmonton for the final session of training this summer. The Rev. Matthew Oliver, Honourary Assistant at St. John the Evangelist, Edmonton, led the group through the ins and outs of leading morning and evening prayer from the Book of Alternative Services and the Book of Common Prayer.

Previous training sessions focused on Preaching, with the Very Rev. Neil Gordon, Dean of All Saints' Cathedral, the Diocesan Missional Model, with the Ven. Richard King, Archdeacon for Mission and Discipleship, and the Christian Foundations Course with the Rt. Rev. Jane Alexander, Bishop. All the material presented is being developed into an on-line resource for review and for those who couldn't attend the sessions. Licensing of new lay readers and re-licensing of many current lay readers takes place September 17.
